2025/2026 Mentorship Program (Mentor)
What will I be doing?
As a mentor, you will build a supportive and caring relationship with an Ethiopian American high school student. You’ll serve as their anchor as they navigate academic, social, and personal challenges. Your role includes listening with empathy, offering guidance when appropriate, validating their experiences — and having fun along the way.
Why should I become a mentor?
Give back to your community
Support first-generation students by guiding them through a critical phase of life and education.
Gain career experience
Whether you're pursuing a career in mental health, education, youth development, or social work — this program is a meaningful and valuable resume builder.
Connect with like-minded individuals
Join a network of Ethiopian American young adults who share your values and commitment to community growth.
What experience do I need?
You don’t need previous mentoring experience. However, we’re looking for individuals who have:
A strong interest in community engagement
Excellent communication and listening skills

Anticipated expense:
Background check – Covered by ECSAC

Regular training and networking events
Ongoing communication with fellow mentors
Access to staff for questions and guidance.
